My son loves Gak or slime but who wouldn’t.  Such a fun sensory play material.  We have made slime before and it is so simple.  I love making our own sensory play materials.  Making them is half the fun.  Once it is made the possibilities for play are endless.

How To Make GAK

 What you need/supplies:

1c glue(we like the clear) , 1 c liquid starch(we got ours at walmart), and food coloring.  You MUST mix the glue and food coloring together first or you will have problems.  After you have the glue and food coloring mixed well with a spoon, add the starch a little at a time.  It will be a little wet at this point so you or the kids can start mashing with their hands through it to finish mixing. (if for some reason you need to add more starch you can but we have always been ok with just 1cup or a little less)
How To Make Gak or Slime Big brother probably played with it for 10 min and when I looked at  it again it was ready!  You can store this in a Ziploc bag or plastic container(that is what we do).  It is said you should refrigerate but when I did this big brother hated that it came out cold and took awhile to warm up.  We left ours out on the counter in the plastic container for about a month before it was no good.

This is also a great science experiment in itself.  Watching as you add ingredients together to get something new.

The great thing about making gak or slime with the kids is that making it and getting their hands down in it is usually all the fun they need.  My son just mashed the gak in his hands and in the bowl. You do not really have to set them up with toys etc..  Don’t get me wrong, there are lots of ways to play with it and we have tried a few, but simple sometimes is best and that’s what we did this day.  What will you and your kids do with your gak/slime?
