3 Free Activities Boys Love- guest post The Pleasantest Thing

I am very excited to have Carolyn from The Pleasantest Thing here to guest post. She has a blog packed full of awesome ideas. If you are not already following her take a second to check her out.

Hello Frogs & Snails & Puppy Dog Tails readers! I’m excited to share some simple, free transportation-themed outings I enjoy with my 2 little boys.

My boys love vehicles. If it moves, my boys will watch it. We visit planes, trains, and waterways to watch the vehicles. On warm days we bring picnic lunches. We have also done shorter trips, bundled up and with a thermos of hot chocolate.

Watching Trains
There is a train station in our town, and we love watching the trains pass by. We pass afternoons there, playing in a small park next to the station. We also stop there on walks. We even ride the train for one or two stops, which always thrills my boys.
Watching Planes
We live about 10 minutes from a small airport. Our airport has a few benches, and you can park and watch the planes. Many of the pilots will wave, and some will even come over to say hello or let us walk over to check out the plane.
Water Watching
If you live near water, there are so many opportunities to watch boats – sail boats, canoes, ferries. We don’t live particularly close to rivers, but on vacations or day trips we often sit by the rivers or on harbor-side benches and watch the water vehicles.
Carolyn is the writer at The Pleasantest Thing, a website focused on sharing play ideas she uses with her two boys. Her favorite play times develop imagination and learning through adventure, literacy, and nature.  You can also join in the fun FacebookPinterest, or Twitter.

Please do come and visit us again. We would love to have you back.
All kids are different and only you can decide how you let your kids play. And with what materials you let them play with. My children are supervised when playing. Please keep this in mind with any post you read of mine!
