Christmas is going to be here before I know it! But it is never too late to get in the kitchen with the kids and make yummy treats for family and friends. The kids and I often make friends at places we frequent. So the kids get excited to take the “gifts” during the holidays. I would be broke if we bought gifts for all the special people in our lives, lol. So making yummy treats help spread the love to a lot of people. I also love that I can pass a gift of giving down to my kids through this small kind act of gifting treats to people we know or see often. Everyone we gave these Candy Cane Kiss Sugar Cookies to said they were delicious. And I am surprised we made it out of the house with any of them because baby brother was a huge fan of the Candy Cane Kiss Sugar Cookie Recipe.
Candy Cane Kiss Sugar Cookie Recipe
Ingredients/what we used:
candy cane Hershey’s kisses
sprinkles
butter
sugar
eggs
flour
vanilla extract
How to make Candy Cane Kiss Sugar Cookies:
Start by making your sugar cookie dough. We took 1 & 1/4 cups of soft or room temp unsalted butter and added 2 cups white sugar to it. Then add 2 eggs. We used brown eggs but use what you enjoy. Mix the ingredients together well. Add a few tsp of vanilla extract to the mix and stir. Now add 2 & 3/4 cups of self rising flour. Add a little at a time and mix well. Once all the flour is mixed you have your dough.
Now on to the fun part. Let the kids pour sprinkles in a plate or bowl. Take and roll 1 inch balls of sugar cookie dough in your hands. Let the kids roll the ball of dough around in the sprinkles. Place on a cookie sheet. I like to line mine with foil first. Of course make sure the oven is preheating to 350 degrees while making cookies.
Fill the cookie sheet full of rolled cookie dough balls with sprinkles. Bake them for 7-10 minutes.
Let cookies cool 2-3 minutes. Once slightly cooled added the candy cane kiss to the center of the cookie. Baby brother had so much fun helping me make these cookies. When even got daddy in the kitchen with us for a few minutes this day.
Once all the cookies are done baking and candy cane Hershey’s kisses added you are done. Now you and the kids have yummy holiday treats to eat or gift to others.
