Another fun week of A-Z cooking with kids series. We are close to the end. Today is Y is for yogurt. I was needing to make the kid’s breakfast one morning and this cinnamon roll bread is made with yogurt! Perfect recipe to share with you all today. My second child LOVES cinnamon rolls. I did not want to take the time to try and make them from scratch. Trust me I know they take time as I made them with my mom growing up. I needed a quick and easy recipe to get food on the table faster than later. This no yeast bread recipe worked and the kids loved it.
Cinnamon Roll Bread
Ingredients/what we used:
egg
milk
plain yogurt
sugar
self rising flour
vanilla
cinnamon
Directions for making cinnamon roll bread:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees to start.
Put 1/2 cup white sugar in a bowl. Add one egg and 1 tsp vanilla extract. Add 1 cup of milk and 1/3 cup of Greek plain yogurt. Mix well. Of course the kids were right there to help me pour in the ingredients and mix. Love having them help out in the kitchen and learn how to cook. Last add 2 cups of self rising flour and mix.
Once mixed pour into a bread pan that has been sprayed with cooking spray. Mix 2 tsp cinnamon and 1/3 cup or more sugar. Add 3 TBL of water and mix. Drop this on top of the bread. Now place the bread in oven to cook for 40-50 minutes. Done when toothpick is stuck in center and comes out clean.
How to make the glaze:
Add 1/2 cup of powder sugar to a bowl. Then add a dash of cinnamon to that. Last add 1-3 TBS of milk and mix.
Let the bread cool after it comes out of the oven. Once cool add glaze to cinnamon roll bread. Now it is time to slice and eat!
Add some fresh fruit and the bread to a plate and it makes a great breakfast for the kids. I enjoyed it too.
