Color Recognition Water Play ~ the color orange

My oldest LOVES the color orange!  We have lots of orange in our lives over here at my house.  When learning colors I think we all know which one is orange during play and review. When asked one afternoon what type of water bin they would like to play in, “an orange one” answered my oldest.  I set out to set up orange colored water bins for playtime. We had 3 water bins in all.  Each one just a little different, but all orange.

What we used:

3 plastic storage bins

peach mango soap

collection of orange items

orange pool noodle cut up

yellow and red bath color tabs to make orange water

and of course warm water

I set one bin up with orange water and soap suds.  This was our Peach and Mango wash bin.  It smelled great.

I set another bin up with orange pool noodles.  I took an orange pool noodle we have had forever and cut it up to make small floating toys for the water bin.  This was our flower bin because the noodle cut up looked like flowers.

The last bin was the orange scavenger hunt bin  We set out to find orange items to place in the last bin and here it what they found.

Didn’t take long before baby brother had his feet in the bin.  Little brother went to washing his tricycle and big brother got in the soapy bin to relax.

Big brother noticed that my toes were orange too.  He said they should have bin in the orange bin too.

The older boys played for an hour or two on the porch.  Baby brother and I stayed almost an hour outside.  We came in and got dry clothes and watched from the glass doors.  The older boys played in the water bins for the first hour and then emptied out a large toy box on the porch and played with the toys from in there the last hour. They picked and chose what to play with from within the box.  Somehow I think everything made its way out of the box and on the porch.  They had a fun afternoon.  We hope you can enjoy a colored water bin too.
