Dippin’ Dots Ice Cream Shop Sensory Play
Simple sensory play has been a hit with my kids this summer as usual. We have not played with our water beads in a long time because I was worried baby brother would eat them but he is now big enough that we could get them out again! Water beads are a fun sensory bin filler, great for sensory bottles, and perfect for pretend play. Early this summer the weather was still good and we could get outside and play more often. This easy and fun dippin’ dot ice cream shop sensory play activity was a winner with the kids. Now the temperature is too hot to get out much but we hope to try this again this fall when the weather cools off.

Supplies/what we used:
rainbow water beads Water Beads, 2 oz pack (Almost 4,000 !!) Sooper Beads® Crystal Water Bead Gel [Rainbow Mix] For Kids Tactile Sensory Experience, Orbeez refill, Wedding Centerpiece Vase Filler, Soil, Plant decoration
large bowl
small bowls
sand toys Sandig 10 Piece Sand Toy Ice Cream Set
What we did/how to set up a diddin’ dot ice cream shop:
First you need water beads and water. Place the water beads in water and wait. We had played with a water bead water bin earlier in the day and I used the water beads out of there for this activity. Once the water beads have grown large enough pour them over into a large bowl or bin. Grab the sand toys ice cream set or something similar and get ready to play.
This was such an easy set up and I love that. As a mom of 3, simple and easy activities are great. Not a lot of prep time and little clean up.
My kids are 7yr, 5yr, and 3yr and they all enjoyed this sensory and pretend play activity. They had fun serving up ice cream for each other and me. Now we are just waiting for the weather to cool off for more simple sensory play activity outside.
You could try this inside but for us it was best done outside.
