DIY Apple Scented Frozen Glitter Paints
DIY Apple Scented Frozen Glitter Paints
When I came across this play recipe for Lotion Paint on My Nearest and Dearest I just loved it. You have to head over to see how Ann made her paints and let the kids play with it. I love her blog and she has tons of great ideas for the kids and more.
I decided to take inspiration from her paint recipe and make our own. I took an apple shaped ice cube tray and filled with apple scented conditioner. I mixed in glitter and food coloring. Last I added little wooden clothespins (thanks craftprojectideas.com for giving them to us).
I then placed the tray in the freezer over night and wondered if we would have frozen paints in the morning.
The next afternoon when I checked the freezer I was excited to see it looked like it worked. Now to test the frozen paints out on paper.
I left the ice tray on the kitchen counter while I was doing something else. I might have left them out longer than I should before we tried painting with them but they did work!
The little clothespins only stayed in a few but that might have been that they melted too much before we headed outside to paint with them. The kids did not care though. They wanted to feel the frozen paints in their hands.
And they had to test the apple paints out on their feet too. I love the ideas my kids bring to playtime. My 3yr old asked me “mommy can I paint with my feet to feel it on my toes”. I smiled and said “that sounds fun, go for it”.
Finger painting, feet painting it was all enjoyed with the apple scented glitter frozen paints. I love how the colors came out on the paper too. It also looks great after drying too.
Both my 3yr and 5yr enjoy painting with these paints. And we hope you can too.
