Edible Apple Sensory Bin

If you follow along then you know I have been living, breathing, and dreaming apples, lol.  One activity keeps snowballing into another.  The kids are loving them so we just keep on having fun. As the mom to 3 kids  of all different ages, I have to try and come up with activities to suit them all.  Sometimes I can not and baby brother is the one that often gets left out and has to play something else.   Do not get me wrong! Baby brother still gets in on a lot of our play activities that older brother likes.  But today I set out to make him his own Edible Apple Sensory Bin to spoil him while big brothers were gone.

What I used:

a tray, bowls, and spoon  from our B Toys Let’s Dish Set

a few extra kitchen items

play apples

dry apple cereal

So easy to set up:

Clean out the tray and then add cereal.  Grab the play kitchen items and add them next.  Last, just add in some pretend apples.

When he woke up from his nap to find this invitation to play he was overjoyed!  Not only was it all his, but it had one of his favorite snacks inside, cereal.

I talked about the colors with him, the fruit inside the bin, the items he was playing with.  A great time to work on vocabulary with the kids is during playtime.

This was  hands on and great for sense of touch, taste, smell, and sight.  Open ended playtime was a hit with baby brother who is almost 2yr.

The clean up was not hard either.  I made sure the rug was nice and clean before letting him play(this is a pretty new rug too).  Between him picking up the cereal that fell out of the bin and me vacuuming, the floor was clean in seconds.  I put the tray up for later.  Just put the cereal in a large ziploc bag and you can get it out again for playtime.
