How to Make Pink Peppermint Playdough

We made pink peppermint playdough last year and still play with it!  We made a new batch this year to sell and raise money to support breast cancer.  My kids and I enjoy the smell and enjoy it every time we get it out.

You can also add glitter if you would like.  Sauce pan, measuring cups, mixing spoon, and wax paper.

What to do:

Get out a sauce pan.  I have an old one I kept just for playdough.  However, the pan does clean out easy for me in the dishwasher.  Gather ingredients and measure and pour all dry ingredients in the pan.  Then add oil and water.  Sometimes I add food coloring to the water and mix before putting in with the dry ingredients.  You can also add glitter to dry ingredients if you would like.  Once you have all ingredients in the pan, turn on med high heat.  Continue mixing the whole time you are making it.  It will take a few minutes before it starts to stick to your spoon. This is a good sign.  Continue stirring and as the playdough cooks it will become one big glob in the pan .  My spoon is always stuck in the middle of the playdough.  I take the spoon and pick up the playdough out of the pan and put it on wax paper to cool.  I would let it sit out at least 30 minutes before you knead it and let the kids play with it.

I make playdough often by myself.  At times I do let my oldest help me with this process.  He gets to help measure and pour in the ingredients to the pan.  I do the stirring because the pan and mix is hot.  I then will not let him knead the playdough until it has cooled.  He has a lot of fun helping when he gets a chance. He always has fun playing in the playdough no matter if he helped make it or not!
