Indoors Treasure Hunt
Anyone else have a pirate loving kid? Well I have two. We have the pretend play clothes and accessories. My boys love getting them out and finding their own playtime fun with them. Because they play with some sort of pirate theme so often I have been wanting to find something a little different for them to do. While thinking, an easy treasure hunt came to mind. Great for pretend play and gross motor skills.
Indoors Treasure Hunt
We have been having a little cold weather here and finding new things indoors to do is a must to keep my busy boys happy. The indoors treasure hunt did just that. It is super simple.
All you need are a few coins like these Plastic Gold Coins (144 Count) (I got ours at a craft store some time ago with the pouches) and pirate gear if you have it ( like these US Toy Kids Pirate Costume, Small World Toys Ryan’s Room – All Decked Out Pirate Play Set) and then hide the coins around the house for the kids.
My oldest also took turns hiding the coins for him and little brother to find. Little brother tried hiding them to for them to find. Then they hide them for mommy to help find. If you do not have store bought coins maybe try taking plastic bottle caps and using as coins or cut out coin shapes from cardboard… I am sure you can find something to substitute. You can add a little learning fun by counting the coins they find. You can also go over that they are round like a circle and the color of the coins too. This is also a great way for the kids to work on gross motor skills as they walk, run, and jump through the house. I hope you and your crew can have some indoors treasure hunt fun too.

It’s a good thing you thought to have a small treasure hunt with those cute little angels. Maybe next time, you can do a mini scavenger hunt with maps and clues to find hidden treasures. On one of my kids’ party, I had him and his friends go on a big scavenger hunt that stretched all over the block. It took them 4 hours to complete the hunt and they enjoyed every second it.
