Little Drummer Boy Sensory Bin
Simple sensory play is fun for the kids and gives me a minute to relax some days. When Colleen of Sugar Aunts came up with a Christmas Carol Sensory Bin series I could not wait to create one for the kids. The Little Drummer Boy has always been one of my favorite Christmas carols so I went with that theme. The little drummer boy sensory bin is cheap and easy to make. It was also a big hit with the kids.

Supplies/what I used:
great northern beans
little drum ornaments -like these Blovess 12pcs Colorful Tiny Plastic Paper Christmas Drum Pendant, Christmas Tree Decoration Ornaments
Young Living Frankincense Essential Oil 5ml
a few scoops and bowls
tray
How to make a little drummer boy sensory bin:
Empty the white beans into a tray or bin. I used my favorite plastic tray I got at IKEA. I actually have a few of them. These trays are great for playtime and crafting with the kids. Once you have enough beans in the tray add the little drums.
How to make scented beans for sensory play:
Take your favorite essential oil and add a few drops to the dry beans and mix with your hands or spoon. Since the song talks about taking gifts to the new King I thought frankincense was a fitting scent to add.
On the way outside we grabbed a few scoops, bowls, and containers from the play kitchen. Now it was time to play!
I got to sit back and put my feet up a few minutes while my 3yr played with his little drummer boy sensory bin. He not only loved this bin but loved he was the only one home and did not have to share with his older brothers. The older kids are 4yr and 6yr. They got a turn later to check it out and gave it 2 thumbs up.
