Milk Carton Bird Feeder ~ Earth Day project for kids
I was looking for earth day projects and saw this diy bird feeder. We could recycle our milk carton and make a bird feeder for earth day. This was perfect to teach recycling items with the kids and to go over the important of helping the earth by feeding birds. We love feeding the birds and make other DIY bird feeders. WE also love filling up the old fashion bird feeders outside. Sitting back and bird watching with the kids is one of my favorite things to do on a sunny day.
What you need: milk carton(or other carton-we had half and half), yarn(or string), glue, scissors, and paper and markers optional. You do not have to decorate this to put it out. What we did: take a pc of paper cover with glue, then wrap around carton. Cut off excess paper. Now cut a space out in carton(see picture below) for bird seed. It needs to be big enough for a bird to get in and get seed. My son now came to color on the carton with a marker. Last put a hole in top to put string in. I used the opening where you pour out liquid to pull my string through and knotted the string together. Now we had a way to hang it outside.

This looks like great fun! I have pinned it. When it finally warms up in Texas, this is on my list of fun projects. Thank you!
