Pumpkin Spice Fizzy Science for Kids
What we used:
baking soda
pumpkin spice pudding
small bowls
plastic pumpkins
vinegar
I do not like to trash perfectly good sensory play materials. I made way too much pumpkin spice filler for our Pumpkin Spice Scented Volcanoes . I had to think fast as to what to do with it but also save it for another day.
love that face! |
We had a lot of fun with our Apple Scented Frozen Baking Soda and Vinegar Science so I decided to do something similar to that, but Pumpkin Spice scented!! This would be fun for a Halloween or Thanksgiving Science day.
What I did:
I took the mixed up baking soda and pumpkin pudding mix and added water. A little at a time. You do not want this mix runny but to be able to pour it over in the small plastic bowls.
This is the saving for another day part. Put the bowls in the freezer and then save this for another day. These stayed in the freezer for weeks. Yay, we get to play with it another day.
I got a tray out and the bowls from the freezer. I had to wait a few minutes and then the cubes fell out of the bowls with ease. I put them in the tray.
I then filled squeeze bottles with vinegar. I filled a cup with vinegar and got out a few pipettes.
Now the kids got the chance to see if they could make the frozen cubes fizz! They added vinegar over and over again. The fizzing started. I also added a little treasure to the baking soda mix before I froze it. The little pumpkins became treasure for them to free from the pumpkin spice cubes.
Love this, looks like so much fun.
