Once Spring arrives, the kids are always ready to start back to water play outside. Water bins are one of our favorite ways to play outside when the weather is right! Water play always seems to be a hit with my multi-aged kids. I love finding fun and easy ways to let them play together. So far water bins have been working since big brother and little brother were young. Even now with 3 of them they all enjoy playing with water. The rose petal water play was a hit with them and they were so excited to be back outside playing again.

Roses- what to do with those roses or other flowers that are starting to wilt? Play with them.
What we did/ how to set up:
I sat the bin on a plastic tablecloth for pictures but not needed. I filled with warm tap water. I then added rose essentail oil for scent. Next the kids pulled the petals off the roses. They dropped them in the water bin as they went. Last we added some play dishes. Now it was playtime.
The kids made rose soup. They scooped and poured lots of rose water. This was a great sensory experience for them. It was always a great open ended play activity. It also incorporated pretend play.
So many wonderful things going on from this one simple setup for playtime.
In the end all 3 kids, ages 2, 4, 6yr, had a great time. I loved the scent of the water as they played. They loved exploring the rose petal filled water and making up their own concoctions.
