Salt Dough Recipe
Finding fun ways to keep the kids busy is something I enjoy. These salt dough shapes were just that. They are fun to make and even more fun to decorate. I can see us doing this again.
How to make salt dough
What you need/supplies:
flour, salt, water
What to do:
Take 2 c flour and 1 c salt mix together. Then add 1 1/4 c water. You should have nice soft dough. Form into a ball and let sit 20 min. Then roll out and use cookie cutters to shape. Put in the oven @ 250 degrees until hard ( ours took about 2 1/2 hrs). Let cool and paint. We used finger paints and other washable paints.
I forgot to mention before you put them in the oven you can take a straw and punch out a hole in the dough. This will give you the option of running string through them when you are finished to hang them or wear as a necklace. I forgot to do this.
We made our dough and baked the night before we painted them.
The next morning we got out the paints and went to work.
Big brother painting and making a classic big brother face.
This is what we had at the end. The dough made a lot. This is only half of what we baked. I put the other half in a Ziploc bag and we will see about painting those another day.
