Sensory Water Party- great way to disguise learning
Have you heard? One of our favorite past times at my house is water play. I love spending time playing with my boys and even more I love finding a common like and interest between them that we can all enjoy during play time. Water play is that common like for them. I keep trying to come up with simple yet fun ideas for them. This is one of my ideas. Sensory water party.
Sensory Water Party- great way to disguise learning
What I used and what I did:
I took empty water bottles and filled with tap water, food coloring, and lemon juice. Put your plastic ice cubes( I got these at the dollar tree) in a basket. I got out empty yogurt cups( I save a lot of these because we always seem to find a good use for them). Last I needed our trusty rubbermaid we use for a lot of our water play.
Most of my post are centered around all the fun we have playing but we do work on many skills and learn great things during our play. For this one not only is it a great sensory experience for them but they get to work on their gross motor skills as well while playing. Scooping and pouring the water is a great way for them to practice this. They also have been learning all summer what floats and what sinks in the water. Of course the colored water and colored ice cubes are a great way to go over colors too. They have no idea they are learning while playing! Its just all fun and no work to them.
Let’s get this party started, lol. They started out very eagerly pouring all the bottles out into our water box.
Now they added the ice cubes. Ice cubes are a simple sensory play material kids love.
Of course my little guy is going to climb in. A fun way to get up close with the water and ice.
The boys pouring and scooping the water and ice is great for their gross motor skills.
With all the different colors in the water it turned a funky color but it smelled good and the ice cubes gave it a burst of color. They had lots of fun playing in the water as usual. I think the water party was a hit. We love our water play time and it is so much fun as a mom to watch her sons play together and make memories to last them a life time. Hope you and your family may have some water fun too.
