Sound Table with DIY Color Sound Sticks
I may be the only mom in the world that has sticks laying through out her house, lol. I have them in a glass cup in the kitchen, we have a box full of them right outside the back door, we have some in the bottom of the stroller…. ok you get the point. My boys love to collect sticks. Since we had the sticks laying around when I was thinking what to use that would be similar to a drum stick, the sticks on the counter were perfect. I wanted to jazz them up a bit. My tot had recently begged to bring home electrical tape from a trip to Home Depot. All the bright colors and the fact that it was tape just intrigued him. I thought it was a good idea to get it and save for a future project. Today was the day to dig the tape out of the craft closet. The DIY Colored Sticks were created.
What we used:
our color sticks- made by wrapping electrical tape around them (the kids helped with this)
Recyclable items we had in the box
What I did:
I set up a sound table for the kids by placing containers of different sizes and shapes out. Then placed the sticks on the table.
Now all that was left was to let the kids explore the different sounds made by hitting the sticks on the containers. Each container had a slightly different sound.
I love this activity! My boys are big fans of sticks too. I never thought to put electrical tape around them, but that is a fabulous idea. Pinning!
