Ten Apples Up On Top- counting & number matching activity
I think most families and teachers love Dr. Seuss books. They are fun and exciting. We love Dr. Seuss books over here too. It is sad to say that we only seem to do activities with his books close to his birthday. Dr. Seuss’s birthday is in March so it is time for us to start doing something more than just reading his books. Ten Apples Up On Top is a new book we got this fall. We have been enjoying reading it and counting to 10.
For this book I chose to put together a simple counting and number matching activity for my oldest son(4yr).
I took a piece of paper and drew a tree on it. I then placed 10 bottle tops from food/yogurt pouches on the top of the tree and traced them(I knew I was saving them for a reason). Next I wrote numbers 1-10 next to them. Last I wrote the matching number on the bottle tops. Easy for me to put together and a lot of fun for him to practice his numbers.
Reading Dr. Seuss’s books is already fun just by itself but adding a little counting activity on top of it made it so much more exciting. We hope you and your kids may enjoy this too.
