Washi Tape Penguin Craft for Kids
Am I the only one that loves the foam cut outs you can get at Dollar Tree and Target? I just love them! Craft foam sheets have so many possible uses for fun. With the winter months upon us, Target has the Penguin foam sheets. I had no idea when I bought them what I would do with them but I knew we just had to have them, lol. I brought them home and sat them on my desk. They sat there a few weeks before the inspiration to craft with them hit me. Since my toddler has a growing fascination with tape, and not just any tape he wants my washi tape, I thought it would be fun to set up an invitation to stick tape all over for him. So that is how the Washi Tape Penguin Craft came to be.
Washi Tape Penguin Craft for Kids
What I used:
penguin foam cutouts
washi tape
trays
What to do:
If you can trust the kids with the tape, let them tear pieces off to tape to the tray. I chose to tear the tape off and slightly taped to the tray. I then put one foam penguin on each of the 2 trays I sat out for my 2 older boys (2yr and 5yr).
I told them to have fun and put tape all over the penguin if they wanted. I had no idea how the craft would turn out but in the end it was quite cute.
Pulling and taping with the torn pieces of washi tape is great for working those tiny hand muscles or fine motor skills. Giving them their tray already set up gave them the opportunity to use their imagination and own creativity to create their own masterpieces.
I just loved their creations. We ended up gluing them down to a white piece of cardstock and hanging them on the walls. The kids love their craft and could not wait to tell daddy all about sticking tape to their penguins.
I bought the same penguins…with no idea what to do with them. Thanks for the idea!
I bought the same penguins on clearance at Target and I am going to use foam stickers and glitter glue for the kids to decorate at my son’s birthday party. I don’t have any of the neat tape but I would totally use it if I did 🙂 Great idea!!!
