Butterfly Craft (a great activity for The Very Hungry Caterpillar)
My boys love The Very Hungry Caterpillar book by Eric Carle. We have been inspired before to have fun with this book. So this day we deiced to do a craft to go with the book.
Butterfly Craft (a great activity for The Very Hungry Caterpillar)
What we used/supplies:
A butterfly template from First Palettes
cardstock
glitter glue
glue
popscicle sticks
pom poms
What we did
We glues pom poms on our popscicle sticks and let them dry. We took glitter glue and decorated our butterflies I let the kids just have fun with the glitter glue and do what they wanted. When they were done we left them to dry. When dry, I cut out the butterflies.
We came back the next day and took our caterpillar sticks and turned them into butterflies by gluing them to the butterfly printout we decorated.
The boys thought it was pretty cool that we made our own caterpillars and even cooler that we turned them into butterflies. Here is one of our butterflies when finished. Now they can fly their butterflies around the house or just look at them when we read the book. And we read the book a lot since it is currently my toddlers favorite book:-)
As always we hope you and the kids can enjoy this too.
