Sesame Street Elmo and Oscar Craft
My kids are big Sesame Street fans. My oldest’s first birthday was all about Elmo. He is 6 now and still enjoys watching Sesame Street with his younger brothers. I think baby brother is the biggest fan now but even I love watching it with them. Did you know Sesame Street will air new episodes on HBO with a fresh and updated version stating in January! What a melding of Two Iconic Brands. We cannot wait. Sesame Street will have the same characters we love and a new home. We are so excited we got to crafting some of our favorite Sesame Street characters. Today I am sharing a fun Elmo and Oscar craft with you.
Sesame Street Elmo and Oscar Craft
Supplies/what we used:
- red paper plate
- green paper plate
- black construction paper
- orange construction paper
- red construction paper
- brown construction paper
- goggly eyes in different sizes
- glue stick
- craft sticks
- scissors
How to make/what we did:
First I set out to find the right sized googly eyes for both Elmo and Oscar. We have a large stash of googly eyes in a variety of sizes. I used the giant eyes for Elmo and the smaller ones for Oscar.
Now I traced with a pencil on the construction paper. I traced a nose for Elmo and cut it out. I traced a mouth for Elmo and cut it out. Now the kids came and glued on Elmo’s eyes, nose, and mouth on the red paper plate. They used the glue stick to do this. I used craft glue to glue on the craft stick to the paper plate. Once the glue dried we had a fun Elmo paper plate puppet to play with.
Now we moved on to our Oscar paper plate puppet. I traced eyebrows on brown construction paper. Then I cut it out. I then traced a mouth on black construction paper. Last I traced and cut a tongue out of the red construction paper.
The kids came back and glued on the eyebrow, eyes, and mouth to the green paper plate. They used the glue stick for this again. I used craft glue to glue the craft stick on Oscar too. Now we had 2 fun Sesame Street puppets to play with.
Now we will be ready to watch Sesame Street on HBO in January with our Elmo and Oscar puppets in hand.
