Simple Water Play
We love simple water play at my house. It has always been one thing I could setup that all the kids could enjoy together. Water play is a great sensory experience for the kids. Playing in water never seems to get old and there are so many ways you can mix it up. Water play allows for learning too. Letting the kids problem solve, use their imaginations, scoop and pour, going over sink and float…. So many things the kids are doing while playing in a simple water bin. My kids are 2, 4, 6yr. They all had fun with this simple water play activity.

What we used/ supplies:
Plastic ice cubes- Reusable Plastic Ice Cubes(Colors May Vary)
plastic bin
cups- Ikea Kalas 101.929.56 BPA-Free Tumbler, Assorted Colors, 6-Pack, Set of 2
water
What we did:
I already had the plastic ice in the freezer. I just took them out and put them in a few plastic cups. I filled the bins with warm water. Once they had just enough water I let the kids add the ice cubes. Now we had our simple water play setup.
They kids were off to play. They talked about the colors of the cubes, counted them, and color sorted a little. They noticed the ice was cold. They checked to see if they would sink or float. They scooped and poured water working on gross motor skills. Picking up the little ice cubes was great for working hand muscles. They made soup and cakes by filling up the cups. Imagination play at its best. Little brother noticed that not all the ice cubes would fit in one cup. Quickly problem solving, he got more cups and kept filling.
We always enjoy an afternoon playing in the water bin. On a good day I can soak my feet too, lol. Win Win for everyone.
