Marshmallow Print Caterpillar

In honor of Eric Carle’s birthday we made heart shaped marshmallow print caterpillars.  Simple book inspired craft for kids. My 5 yr and 3 yr LOVE The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  So much so, that we are on our second year watching live caterpillars transform into butterflies.  The boys loved the idea of this from the book so much we had to see it for ourselves.  We not only enjoy bugs but crafts too.  This was a fun print making activity for the kids and I just love how it turned out.

Dip marshmallow in paint and print.  We did one red followed by green.

We left them to dry.  They then sat on my desk for a month…  And the time finally came, or I found them, to finish turning them into caterpillars.  I used sharpies and just drew on feet and eyes.
