I have been bit by the apple bug, lol. I just got to thinking one day its time to get back to crafting with the kids. So with the beginning of school and fall around the corner for us, apples came to mind. We have made these finger paint trees before and I thought we would just make them “Apple Trees” this time.
Apple tree- craft
What you need: green cardstock or construction paper, red paint and brown paint(if you want to paint the tree trunk), scissors, toilet paper roll, paint brush, paper towels or mat( to layout if they paint the trunk), and a wipe or wet paper towel.
What we did: I took the green paper and cut it out to look like the top of a tree(best I could) using my scrap booking scissors. You can use regular scissors( I have before). Get out the toilet paper rolls( I have been saving a few for some crafts). I put paper towels out for my oldest and put his toilet paper roll on it. Then gave him brown paint and brush to paint the trunk. My youngest did not paint his trunk. While big brother painted, I got the red paint and let little brother dip his finger and put fingerprint dots on the green paper. He now had apples:-) I had my wipe to clean his fingers off. Now it was big brothers turn to do the same to his tree top. I left the tree tops and one trunk to dry. When I came back I cut slits down the side on the toilet paper rolls about 1/2- 1 inch on each side. Now take the tree top and slide it in to the roll. Last stand it up and enjoy the pretty apple trees the kids have created.
Above my oldest is painting his trunk.
Little brothers tree with a plain toilet paper roll trunk and big brothers with a painted one.
Since I hope to do a few apple related crafts and activities with the boys I chose to talk about the letter A during this time. I just simply put an A on a piece of paper and hung it on the wall where the boys will see it daily. Hope you all can have some apple fun too. Other post you may like :
